I feel that the new open access policy in the school is working well and that I am able to gain access to teachers / senior Leaders when needed

(Changes we’ve made: Teachers being available outside at the end of the day, Open Door policy for the H.T – will fit you in if available, H.T timetable on display, H.T happy for parents to email directly to head@eastwick-jun.sch.surrey.uk )

I think the move to Christingle Services in the evening and Traditional Nativity Services in school was successful

I like the change in lunch time organisation

(Packed lunches eaten class then all get out to play by 12.40. The intention was to limit noise in the hall and ensure children get time to eat in a less crowded environment. The H.T regularly eats in the hall and the Senior Leaders monitor classrooms, the aim being to encourage good manners)

My child is clear what the expected behaviour in school is and understands the types of consequences for poor behaviour

(Changes: a consequence ladder is displayed in each class. It is followed by all staff, the intention is to make behaviour management consistent. This was introduced in October. Parents across the school are now made aware if there has been a ‘run’ or ‘pattern’ of poor behaviour in school.)

I like the new focus on using the Literacy book as a tool for editing and the creation of Topic Books linking children’s learning (The intention was to raise standards in writing ensuring all children pick up errors in grammar etc whenever they write, for any subject. The topics aim to link learning and the books should be a celebration of their achievements. This started in September.)

My child is happy at school. The school is a happy, friendly place to visit.

Behaviour is generally good at Eastwick Junior School

My child is able to develop their creativity through school lessons and the theme days

My child is challenged appropriately in class and is rarely bored

Communication in school is improving and has improved since September.

Teaching in school is good

Eastwick Junior School is managed well by senior leaders and the Governing Body
